Okay, was just curious...

You'd like to make an educational presentation with Celestia as the
springboard, yes? Must admit that it would make for a very nice
educational resource.

In my opinion, anything which can get a young student interested in the
universe is well worth the effort, so good luck. Unfortunately, I can't be of
much help here. I'm still using my ancient PC with its limitations, and I'm
also looking for work again.

Seems that I have this paranoid problem with authority...

InfoURL

I just wanted to share a couple of discovery's I've made. They may be in the Celestia Manual but I don't have it since the site crashed before I could get it.

1. Celestia pegs my computer CPU usage at 100%, until now when trying to run a second program it was very sluggish! In effect there is a pause button on celestia, its the minimize button, Celestia CPU usage drops to zero on mine when minimized.

2. The InfoURL in the [*.ssc] files also works in the following format.

InfoURL "File:///C:/Program Files/Celestia/HTML/Test4.htm"

You can easily add a [*.html] page with sound and graphics, including movies if your browser supports sound and movies.

That statement misses the point somewhat.
Indeed there is much audio data gathered from planetary mission and radio telescopes. Just think of the audio data recorded during the titan landing mission - you may remember that. Furthermore pulsars are primarily described by their radio emissions that are usually displayed as audio pulses. Last not least the voyager missions aquired a HUGE amount of radiowave data when passing the jovian system - some of them quite aesthetically displayed in audio sound. Every script descriping and explaining those objects/missions would miss elemental information without displaying at least some of the according audio data.

And not to forget: Fridgers et al's attemps to take the first steps towards a multispectral celestia (an effort which unfortunately stucks a bit at the moment). Well, the 20-20000Hz band is a elemental part of the electromagnetic spectrum - as you easily may experience when you have a nervous girlfriend/wife as co-driver (or other way round) ;)

Sorry...

Was a feeble attempt at humor, and as you can see in my subsequent post,
I even encouraged the prospect of adding audio to Celestia.

Sheesh! You people have no sense of humor do you?

Well, there are so many statements against adding audio capabilities to celestia - ironic ones or not - that it just puzzles me. I simply don't unterstand why. So this line above was adressed not too specially to you, but to a general audience.

So you don't need to feel sorry ;) Just unterstand why it's valuable to have audio data available in celestia.

I hereby declare my unabridged and full cooperation and support in
the effort to add audio capabilities to Celestia...

Will that suffice?

The Flue Bug has hit my area and knocked me out of action. :( The update will be in two weeks. I'm back on the prodject, and also adding Simple [No HTML Coding Knowledge Needed ], HTML Page creation to CtrlCScript for Movie, Graphic and Sound. for use in the *.ssc files. :D

I posted The Beta 2 of CtrlCScript today. The details are in the following link a rich text format file. I'll leave it up for a week. And go on to the final version. :D

The readme needs more work I know.

The program and code are in the following link.

Put a copy of the CtrlCScript.ini in the windows directory after making it conform to your system. Unzip help.zip, prodjects.zip and Templates.zip the help files in \CtrlCScript\Help\ Files still compatible with last version.

Let me know of any bugs.

The code it was written in is included, feel free to improve it.

The next release should be the final release.

The CelPlayer is done but in testing and will follow later.

I removed the zip file. Haven't had any feedback, either no one has found any bugs or nobody is using it and I'm wasting my time.

I have a feeling I'm wasting my time.

Now that the forum requires registration, it's more of an effort for visitors to comment. There are many more unregistered readers than there are registered forum members. You have no way to know how they feel about your creations.

In general, it's best to create things which satisfy your own artistic urges and not to depend entirely on the approval of others.

Thanks
I wasn't really looking for approval, but conformation of quality, so I can declare it a final release. I've never seen a program that never had a bug. :-)

I'd like to put out a final as bug free as possible.

I had this one on my screen. Not very central at present, but I planned to test it and check if it'll be suitable for machinima recordings. You may hear from me in half a year perhaps (that's a realistic planning for me), but it would be a pitty if it wouldn't be there then.

About generating celestia Script

Post #36by guillaume_2k3 » 02.05.2005, 13:00

Hi folks,
Writing a compiled script generator for celestia takes time i guess, and the result could be really optimized due to celestia's ressources needs.

Also, while some people here are trying to make a GUI application for the automatic generation of .cel script, ( available under Lin/win  ) we can use a web based script generator :

I found this one : http://consul.com.ua/celestia/ but this editor is very limited...

I can eventually write a more enhanced script, in php, but i'm looking for help because i'm very busy with other projects...also my knowledge of celestia scripting is very limited.
The advantage of a web based script generator is in the few computer's ressources required, compared to a GUI program. Also, visitors will be able to share scripts sources and .cel with others online, whatever is the OS.

Another idea is to modify celestia to create a kinda "log" file wich writes down into a script file all the camera commands you do in celestia...?
Like a "record script" button or something ?
