What are your favorite starships from any science-fiction TV or movie?
1. Andromeda Ascendent (Andromeda)
2. Taelon Mothership (Earth: Final Conflict)
3. USS Voyager (Star Trek: Voyager)

What?
Not even a mention of the Discovery from 2001?
Sheesh!
Although, I guess you are quite correct of course, since
the Discovery was not a STARship. <shrug>

The Heart of Gold, from HHGG... the movie version, not the white shoe from the book.
And also the new (or old?) design for the Republican destroyers (not as pointy as the empire's, and painted red.)
And Galactica (The new version)
And what about the vulcan ships in the ST:Enterprise? (The round nacele and the dark red hull rox)
I am very fond of FTL travel... the whole thing about telling "space to get knotted" or creating subspace shells kinda make me wonder... so sad that we are not going to see it... [cross fingers and hope desperately that we develop advanced technology soon]

Hm. I'd have to say:
1. Serenity (from 'Firefly')
2=. a moonbase alpha Eagle (from 'Space 1999') and the Discovery from 2001.
3. Shadow battleship (from 'Babylon 5')
Honorable mention: Megamaid (from 'Spaceballs', just for the 5 minute flypast with the "We Brake For Nobody" bumper sticker at the end
).

I would have to say the
1 elo space station
2 the boston star ship
but this begs the question which one would win in a fight
i would like to think elo would. you may wonder how. i am going to assume that jeff lynn would come out of the space station and be all grungy (you know his normal look) and and sing some william shatner rendition of an elo song (i hope shatner didnt touch any of those) thus causing boston to give up for fear of death at the hands of a dirty, burnt out song writer (if you dont believe me see the george harrison tribute concert). they would then probably go into the elo space station and have some good rockaria concert. who kows, they may even meet a sweet talking woman.

You'll have to excuse me, I'm getting on the Last Train To London now...
- Horace Wimp, a Wild West Hero.
. (half the people here probably wouldn't even know what we're talking about...).
I did like the ELO ship though (the old one, from Out of the Blue, not the naff new ELO mk II one) - it was very cool. I guess they don't really count though since they were from album covers, not SF TV shows or movies

why dont they count? people listed the heart of gold from the guide and that was a book. and if people dont know who elo and boston are then that is just sad and depressing.

No, it's just that most kids today haven't heard that stuff or aren't into that kind of music anymore. And if they have heard it then it's stuff that their parents listen to, which automatically makes it uncool
.

Or it may be that their parents are actually cool, but they don't like it because that's their personality. Not all teens have embarassing parents.

RESURECTED!
I guess my favourite starships would be the Asgard starships from the SG universe (the O'Neill class battleship for instance).
It is a known fact that ships in the Star Trek universe suck when compared to ships in the SG universe. The Asgard ships are capable of intergalactic travel, and they have way more powerful shields/weapons than the Ha'tak class, which in term is more powerful than the Star Trek Sovereign class (the Enterprise-E). Asgard ships are the result of >10000 years of spacefaring: small crew complements, competent AI, advanced cloaking technology, medical equipment (which includes stasis pods). Their generators use technologies which are outside our realm of understanding (smth called "neutrino-ion generator", probably based on dark matter physics) versus the nominal anti-matter core of a regular UFP staship.
Why is a Ha'tak more powerful than Enterprise-E, you ask? Well, afaik the Sovereign class is equipped with 250 megaton quantum/photon torpedoes, and will persumably be in serious trouble when subjected to a volley of such torpedoes. The Stargate canon contains records of Ha'taks resisting Earth gigaton-sized warheads without blinking - one can draw the conclusion that generally Stargate weapons are more powerful than nominal Trek weapons. This is normal, because Stargate takes into account that space technology is the result of thousands of years of evolution (Asgard, Goa'uld), while in Star Trek the Federation joins hands and researches everything in a couple of hundreds of years.
And even the O'Neill class is no match for the Ori battleships (it would be like the Federation fighting a starship designed by Q).
The Glorious Heritage class in Andromeda is good too, but it's built on different underlying physics. Although it has considerable more firepower than Stargate or Star Trek ships, the physics in the Andromeda universe are almost as unforgiving as real physics - which means that poor Andromeda has no transporter technology, no shields, and pathetic battlefield maneuverability compared to a warp capable starship. Even though it can depopulate a planet in a couple of minutes, the Andromeda has tactical vulnerabilities which can be easily exploited by any starship in the SG or Star Trek universes.
