It's not jumping, but merely forming a bridge across the two ice packs, so that it's little 'uns (out of picture) can cross from one side to the other without getting their paws wet. :wink:

Yes, I confess, I am kind of a polar bear fan...

In Spitsbergen, there is plenty of polar bear action. From here

An interesting question:

Why does (ocean)water (nearly) always apears to be brownish on photos or videos from polar regions?
