Congratulations to Boca Juniors!
I guess you've answered my question from the Maradona post in a very emphatic way. Are those pictures taken from the championship winning match by any chance? The ground looks very full, and most people seem to be celebrating!
However it has been 77 years (1926) since Huddersfield Town last won the English championship
but at least our stadium had a record attendance of 24,163 when it hosted the 3rd International rugby league test match between Great Britain and Australia last weekend. On the same day that (ahem!) England won the rugby union world cup!
BTW we do/did have highlights of Argentinian football shown in the small hours of one of our national tv channels here in GB, I'll have to check if the Boca Juniors game is going to be shown.
regards

I'm very glad that your team won and you have something to celebrate. We won the rugby World Cup however. I think Argentina and the USA were also in the competition...although I might be mistaken.?
Regards...bh. (my first time here...but not my last I think!).

The pictures were NOT taken in the championship winninf match: in Argentinian football all the games are like parties!!! Specialy when Boca Juniors' crowd is there. Its not only me, but almost everyone who knows the Boca Juniors' fan(the ones shown in the pictures) say that they are the best of the world, and that this is not seen in any other part of the world. I think that it may be truth, cause when i see europe games i dont see al the people standing up, jumping and singing with lots of flags and baloons. In argentina footbal is something very special...
Argentina was in the competition. USA I dont know.

The US were in it too- but they went out in the first round...
Another point... Purgatory is for "irrelevant threads" right- so... We shouldn't really be able to post here once a thread is put in here- otherwise it's just like a General Discussion forum isn't it?!! (Personally I think that's not a bad idea as long as everyone stays away from contentious issues like politics & religion, but it's not up to me...

OK, maybe to get this thread on a more Celestia orientated subject, it would be good idea to create a moon texture around the planet Marado with lots of craters named after famous Boca Junior players, and then a second much larger moon with famous Huddersfield Town players!
Here is a link to a 3d panorama image of an empty McAlpine Stadium where Huddersfield play;

It's good to be World Champions, but I thought that Frank Skinners comment on it being the equivalent of GB winning a gold medal at clay pigeon shooting to be just a little unfair!
TERRIER
PS I've just noticed that some of the furniture in the boardroom looks like it's been borrowed from the set of Star Trek TNG. Mind you Patrick Stewart IS a Huddersfield Town fan!

Jack: I think that this forum is for irrelevant things, but that can be replyed. The topics are here because they have NOTHING to do with celestia so they are also very inapropiate to the Users forum. I think that this kind of topics are for this forum...
Talking about beeing world champions, in december the 14th there will be a game between Boca Juniors and Milan(from Italy). That game is called the "International cup" or Euro-American cup: the teams that play that game are the one that won the Champions League(Milan) and the one that won the Libertadores Cup(Boca). The libertadores is the southamerican champions league(however there are also some centralamerican teams form mexico). So the wining team is the champion of the world!
Here you have some pictures of Boca Juniors stadium("La Bombonera"), one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world(and I am not the one who said it, I heard it from other people form the whole world):

If you want more pictures(that ones don't have good quality) search in google in the images section for BOMBONERA...

It wasn't so long ago that I reported that everything was doom and gloom for the TERRIERS.....
6 months ago in another thread I wrote:I guess that Boca Juniors are still a good team, even without the services of Maradona?
However my favourite team, Huddersfield Town nearly went out of business a few months ago and are in the doldrums. They were relegated to the English 3rd division last season and have today experienced one of the worst days in the clubs history, losing to non-league Accrington Stanley in the first round of the FA cup. To make matters worse, the match has been shown live on BBC1 television.
Dark days indeed for the Terriers
....but after a great second half to the season, it has resulted in today being a marvellous day for Huddersfield Town.
They have been promoted to Division 2 after winning the Division 3 play-off final at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.

Congratulations!!!
I know what it feels to be in the 3rd league and to go up to the 2nd. A very close friend of mine loves a team that some years ago was in the 1st division, the it went to the 2nd and then to the 3rd(it was 1 year in each league), but then they went back to the 2nd and they are doing very nice there...

It wasn't long ago that Huddersfield were in Division 1 - they were top of the league at Christmas in 1999 before being relegated in 2001.
They then lost in the play-offs from Division 2 the following season, before being relegated to Division 3 last year.
So it's been a bit of a roller coaster ride for the club over the last few years!

The Boca Juniors Basketball Team won the Argentinian Tournament yesterday!!! We lost the first 2 games of the final in our home, but then we won the last 4(two in the other's team home, one on our's and the last one in their's). It is the second time we won. The previous one was in 1997.
The final game was 113-106 and it was defined in teh second overtime.
The game finished 78-78 after 3 points in the bell from the other team. The first overtime finished 96-94 after a double in the bell from us.
It was a very interesting game to see...
BUT WHO CARES?? WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS AND THATS WHAT MATTERS!!!

Well done to Boca Juniors !....
....but are they allowed to defend the South American title next year, due to their fairly poor showing in the latest domestic campaign ?
regards,
TERRIER
P.S.
Last weekend Huddersfield lost to our local rivals Bradford City in a League 1 encounter, which leaves the "Terriers" 13th out of 24 teams at the half way stage of the season.

Yes we are. There are two teams from each country that allways play thet cup, and then each year another pair of teams from each country. From Argentina there is allways Boca and River...
