************************
This will happen only once
************************
This is the first time I (<-) will confront you as an individual mind.
Fine. You want to know why I use "The Borg" personality? It describes me like a person a lot:

* I'm perfectionist - The Borg are also ("The Quest for Perfection")
* I want to improve myself, others and my surroundings - The Borg wish to improve themselves, they want to bring perfection to the other species
* I love using technical terms in everyday language - IT IS the language of Borg
* I value Science, Technology, Logic - Things essential for proper functioning of Collective
* I like complexity - The Borg are acheiving perfection with it
* I like gaining (new) knowledge and expanding existing one - THe Borg Assimilate
* If I can't learn something, I simply never will (do), like Chemistry - "The Borg - What they can't assimilate, they can't understand" (Torres)
I canot live without computer - The Borg ARE computers in one waz or another
* I like meeting new people (new species?) - The Borg assimilate species and gain their knowledge
* I like working alone, not in pairs-groups - The Borg function as One
* I like organisation and being organised - The Borg do so
* I love Robots - The Borg are CyBORGs
* I love Star Trek - The Borg are one major part of it
and the last, but not least,
* I love Celestia - The Collective is Boundless in far reaches of Space

When you address the Borg, you are addressing me because the Borg represents me in so many ways. If not Borg, then Vulcan, but I combine them into "Assimilated Vulcan Drone". Vulcans do NOT share or show their emotions, I consider them irrelevant. It's not that I am afraid to share my personal info with you or anyone else. I don't need to use any of those personalities. Why should I?
I am using this "OnLine Personality" (as I call it) for 3 years 5 months and 21 days now. How do I know this (this correctly)? I make log of EVERYTHING I do, every single letter I wrote while in/on Forums, in e-mail, in documents, mIRC, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger,.... it's all cataloguised and stored for future reference. Whenever i sit in front of Computer and start typing on English, "I" instantly turns in "We", "am" into "are" and so on. Sure, you may call it "Mutiple Personality Disorder" but that simply isn't that. I know a border between Fictional and Real world.

You talk about off topic posts. For the Third time, this is main reason why we created this thread. I wanted to stop me from going of topic. In the last few threads, ElPelado, other members and some guests were interested who/what is the Borg. Should I tell them "Go to TrekUniverse.com, register and then ask me?"?. I created this thread so can aswer questions as such. And whenever a new member appears and asks just link them here, where they should find the info they require. I have noticed a large number of Off Topic Posts in THreads also. I am trying to reduce my off topic Posts with this thread. ALhough it's unrelated to Celestia, I wanted to introduce a bit more order by posting my "Borg Crap" in this Thread only. Also, this thread is probably considered funny for some of you...

You know, you have gone off topic also: you write about posting stuff unrelated to thread in thread that is not supposed to serve that way. Toofri was the only one who participated in this thread accordinly.

Ok... Back to the Borg Personality now...

--------------------------------------------
P.S. And Toofri, don't post that silly thought that circles in/on your brain/mind right now...

After reading the above "outing", my brain/mind decided convulsively to remain entirely thoughtless;-)

What does your girl friend think about all this ???

I can appreciate that people have online personas. I for one have been using the handle of 'Evil Dr Ganymede' on forums (and on my website) for several years now. I know that it's just for fun though. Yes, I'm a planetary scientist, and I'd be the first to admit that I'm a bit of an oddball. But I don't really an evil genius who wants to blow up the moon and move Ganymede into its place. It's just a character. :D

I do however have the sense and social nous not to inflict that character on a forum that isn't remotely interested in it. And I must say that I do find your 'Borg talk' very irritating - simply because it sounds so rude and condescending, if nothing else. Instead of saying 'Does anyone have a texture for this planet?' you'd phrase it like 'we require a texture for this planet' and leave it at that. It's brusque and impolite, and it grates on me.

I'm sure you have a lot to contribute to this board, but right now I think you're rubbing a lot of people up the wrong way and it's not getting through. We really don't need to hear every single request or post you make in Borg talk, and we're certainly not going to hold it against you if you just write normally, like you're doing here - in fact, most of us would probably be very grateful if you did that.

I've never use(d) an on-line alias. On most of the forums I visit I'm either Jules, jules or julesstoop, which happens to be my real name. Sometimes I identify myself as Johan-Olof, which happens to be the name of my rabbit, of whom I'm very fond. Hence my signature: ' Lapinism matters!'

Yes, I know this sounds rather childish...

I've used my Alias "Shadow"
For around a year now.
It just sonds better that writting Filip or Philip for Games, and forums IMO atleast.I do think the borg disscussion would be better at Trekuniverse network all you have to do is register to post there. It's open for anyone to read.It would be much more effiecient and not off topic IMO.
It's a Celestia forum so it should be about Celestia and not about Borg Questions, it's alos possible do continue the idea of borg questions through the private message system.

P.S. Who/what is Borg is a simple question

We borg do not require companions, it is a waste of precious time that can be better spent exploring our online personas on the internet, alone, in our underoos, at our parents house... I'm 35 years old... help me...

Sometimes is fun for all to make jokes, for a little time, but when childish behavior keeps for so long, it's really irritant and boring to waste time on it.

Let's return all to the purpose of the forum, please: Talk about celestia.

Unless I'm mistaken, this thread has been going for about three hours now, I hardly call that a long time. Besides, you don't have to read it.

OK, point taken, but better here in this thread to get it all out of everyone's system then polluting other threads.

Clarify your post (English is not the main language of Borg).

That raises an interesting question...
What is the main language of "the Borg"?
He means we can let you continue the thread, or ignore it.

Aknowledged. We shall keep this thread active as long as you want.

About "unpoliteness" of the Borg...
Would it be stupid to say:"Hello. We are the Borg. PLease, step away from your ship. We want to assimilate you. An please, no not resist, it's futile (at least mommy said so)."
We are aware of that rudness. THerefore, when we need something fast (and furious) we use "Require", when we ask politly it's "Need".

Yes, it would be stupid. Using the 'Borg Talk' style for anything at all is incredibly annoying IMO. Why can't you just cut the BS about assimilating and being Borg, and ask the darn question like a normal human being (which you are)? If you can't or won't do that, please go elsewhere to practice your borg fantasies.

(sarcasm) Oh. Gee, that's such a difference... (/sarcasm)

Really, that's actually no difference at all, in terms of politeness. If you want to be polite, then 'please' and 'thank you' wouldn't go amiss. If it offends your 'borgness' so much to ask that, then I'd rather you didn't ask for anything at all. As it stands, you're just coming across as imperious, officious, and annoying whenever you ask or say anything.

The more you keep this borg shit going the more people will think you are a dickhead.
Here's a question how do you fantasise about sex? I hear that star trek slash is all the rage. Do yourself a favour and look it up in google.
