Yes, some of you presumably know what a fractal is and who was Benoit B. Mandelbrot (died end of 2010),,,
What is really exciting is the very recent generalization from 2D Mandelbrot sets to 3D, the MandelBox. With the great speed of today's computers these unbelievable 3D fractal structures can be and have been explored to very deep levels.

For me this looks like a lost deep sea city from ancient times when we had this visit from outer space

Actually, fractals are being invoked sometimes also in cosmology. Notably some speculate that the matter distribution is fractal in the Universe and then one may arrive naturally at the observed "spider web" type large-scale filiamental galaxy structures.
