...to make a black hole large enough to be useful as a starship drive.

What you really want is a black hole factory the size of a small asteroid, making million-tonne black holes to order. Just watch out for alien space bats dropping alien space baguettes into the precision machinery :P

Collisions have taken place in the LHC. Yay! :D
I say Yay now, but upon reading it at first, I made a mad dash for this site, http://hasthelhcdestroyedtheearth.com/ , which calmed me down a bit. :roll:
