Starry skies from childhood. What about today?

Post #1by STARNIGHTER » 20.04.2007, 12:52

I was born in the 1950's, and remember my first starry sky at the age of 4. But some 50 years later, will a star packed sky be just as impressive to you now?

We visit places where we grew up, and of course everything seems smaller than we remembered them being. Life's changes, adulthood, and a variety of nostalgia reminders exist. The best example is music. Often, I am taken back to a special time when I hear a certain song.

But if those of you who are in my age range see a star packed sky (rare these days), does the same sense of nostalgia hit you? Do the constellations you grew up with seem somewhat different (although they're not)? In other words, will a starry sky excite you just as much as it did when you were a child, or has age and life(perhaps even more knowledge of astronomy) changed the perception(or disappointed you)?
