A few years back, my uncle registered his grandchildren's names to stars (my cousin's two kids age 10 and 12). While the stars are not in the default Celestia star database (one might have been, but I forget which one), they are in the 2-million star database addon (which I have installed)... so I wrote a script for the kids which 'points out' their stars from a near Earth locale, and then takes a trip out to visit them, looking back at Sol upon arrival. I utilized constellations and boundaries and markers to help visualize finding their location. I'm pleased with it. The kids have yet to see it.
If you're interested, their stars are "TYC 3429-889-1" (for the 10yr old) and "TYC 4024-84-1" (for the 12yr old). The data supplied for their location was only given as RA and Dec, but using that I was able to search and find the Tycho names using the following resource: http://www.rssd.esa.int/Hipparcos/HIPcatalogueSearch.html
