I was wondering what it would look like if a galaxie is forming and evolving?

The only way we know to do this is to look at what is out there. We have only known that galaxies are billions of stars for about 100 years. Prior to that, they were thought to be just another nebula. In other words, the science is still very young and we have a LOT to learn. This site gives a very brief explanation of galactic evolution.

The shape and probably also alot of other properties of the galaxies are influenced by collisions with other galaxies. While stars lie extremely far apart relative to their sizes, galaxies lie very close, as can be seen in Celestia
