Checkout the raw images of Dione at the Cassini site. Fantastic stuff.

Wow. The closeup of the crescent is fantastic (eg http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/multimedia/i ... 041269.jpg ), and there's some images there that look like dead ringers for Ganymede...(eg http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/multimedia/i ... geID=51677 )

Interesting closeup of little Telesto. It's surprisingly smooth.

The images Celestia presents about Dione-Rhea on Oct 11
are at least as good ;-)

It looks almost like it's been covered with snow....

I enjoy replecating the images Cassini takes. I find it interesting how different the colors are when JPL says the picture is "close" to what our eyes would see... and even more interesting to me is the thickness of the ring plane. I used the information from the JPL site on when and how far Cassini was from Dione to replecate the photo.
