Nice idea for a page, I was thinking about doing some sort of quiz on the forum a few days ago...

60 / 61 . . . I think I need to get out more

Is there a slight bug in the quiz? There are only 60 moons listed, so a perfect score of 61 / 61 seems impossible.

I made the test a little bit nicier (pictures) and I have a question there : for which moons do we have real images ? All ?

It was only from my prior experience with updating the tiny/new moons file that I knew all those names!!

Hm... Okay, getting lune wrong is inexcusable but it's probably still better than most of the general public- I doubt many of my friends would manage more than 30!

This thread doesn't belong in purgatory. If the forum admin is contributing to the thread, then it belongs in the Physics and Astronomy forum. I was not aware until just now that we can intentionally create posts in the purgatory forum. I thought it was just an administrative option. I don't want to start having to browse purgatory for actual useful content. (Of course, Sherlock Holmes would easily see through this complaint.) Anyway, for the overall benefit of the collection of forums, I think it is a good idea that a stigma be attached to messages in Purgatory, even if that stigma is ever-so-slight.

Of course, by this standard, this message, and any responses to this message, would also seem to be beneficial to the forums, and should not be found in Purgatory.

I do think that a thread entitled "take this quiz", with an un-commented hyperlink, is likely to be treated as purgatory-fodder even if it contains a pointer to useful information. This practice should also be discouraged.

Just my two cents. I want to be vigilant about maintaining the quality of the forum experience.

Can the admin move a thread _out_ of purgatory?

And just a little update- I thought my friends (science-oriented ones) wouldn't get more than 30 in the quiz... Looks like I overestimated them, somewhat! I see an average of only 20 or so, in the people who are interested in this kind of thing...

So, I've a 60 [I made a mistake with Larissa] but this is because I've had a look recently on my pages about the moons, especially the Jestr models addons: I don't know if all the models that I present are the more accurate ones (Jestr, please: I want to refresh these pages, with good addresses and good picts!)

Just digressing slightly, but I've always used the "answer to the ultimate question of Life, the Universe and Everything" as one of my lotto numbers

I got all of them because I visit all of the moons often in Celestia.

a pathetic 40 I am afraid; you generally find me further out, among the local sunlike stars...

I got 58/61. The quiz wasn't the best part for me, I really liked the moon pictures! The imaginary pictures of the small satellites really makes them seem just as interesting as any of the big moons. Are any of the textures/models used for them available for Celestia? The only problem though is I think Pan was a little spherical for such a small moon, was this done on purpose?
