The Opportunity rover is now on the surface of Mars, side pedal down. Had clear tones all the way through Entry, Descent and Landing (EDL). NO fault tones.
Yipieeee! Two for two !!! Congratulations NASA and JPL!
Oh, and the new governor of California was also there to congratulate the team on a second successful landing.

I CANT BELIEVE WHAT THEY HAVE JUST DONE! ITS SPECTACULAR! TWO OF TWO! CONGRATULATIONS NASA AND JPL, YOU ARE THE BEST!
btw: now we can see the difference between NASA and ESA: experience...
If only the esa had put a "beep" system on the beagle, as nasa did, they could at least know what happened... its really a shame...

Congrats to NASA on another successful landing.
The landing site at Meridiani looks to have some interesting features, judging by the first raw images; http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/ ... unity.html
especially that rocky outcrop;

The news sounds better for Spirit as well. It's condition has gone from 'critical' to 'serious'
