Second Gaia data release is tomorrow, 25 Apr 2018

The second Gaia data release is scheduled to happen at Noon CEST tomorrow, 25 Apr 2018.

It'll include positions for 1,692,919,135 stars.

The press event about the Gaia Data Release 2 is being organised by ESA at
the ILA Berlin Air and Space Show in Germany on Wednesday 25 April 2018,
11:00–12:15 CEST.

Yes, it is 9.1 GB data. 97 million stars.

Thanks for let us know when DR2 is now available. I did downloaded Gaia Sky package and Gaia DR2 archives.

I executed Gaia Sky with default package. Very interesting! It immediately resulted image of Milky Way cloud from particles database!

I am now learning how Gaia Sky handle very large particle database with octree files. They are written in Java language.
