Kraken Mare

They've named a couple of the apparent bodies of liquid on Titan: Kraken Mare and Ligeia Mare. The large island in Kraken Mare is now Mayda Insula.

Just a minor nomenclature update, but isn't it amazing to be alive during a time when we're naming seas on other worlds?

I am so glad that the IAU went with Kraken Mare. I already named my healer in Guild Wars is named Mare Kraken (there was a point where our suggestion had Mare first, but this was overruled). For a while, it looked like we would have to go with Kelpie Mare since Kraken is used for a volcano on Triton.

I like the choice of sea monsters for the names. I hope we get a Nessie Mare.

I think so. Seems the older I get the faster the technology and discoveries are happening. I hope before my time comes I'll get to see men on Mars and at least a colony on the moon.

I've just revised saturnmoons_locs.ssc with an extensive update for Dione feature names, together with these three new named features on Titan. You can get the updated file from SVN at:
http://celestia.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/celestia/trunk/celestia/data/saturnmoons_locs.ssc

Unfortunately, the north pole lakes and seas are all in a blank area of the currently available textures, which have yet to assimilate the radar data from high northern latitudes.
