ok ive w8ed 4 this moment all my 12 years of life, at about 12:30 AM
new years 2006, now 07, my stepdad called me out to see a spaceship!
im big on astronomy so im like, "y didnt I know this was gonna happen?"
so I look off our lanai(FL terms 4 a screened in porch) and I see a red dot, im like, ok, cool shuttle, but then I look left and see another, then a third one, so now were all out on the dock flipping out.
all of us being UFO believers we immediately realize:
1. no sound. not a plane.
2. no wind, these were about only 300-400 feet up, traveling at over 100mph.
so they were under the clouds, going steadily up, 1 after another.
3. we counted 17 of them in all.
and finally I figured a pattern, 1 BRIGHT blink, then 3 quick small blinks, and they came 1 at a time, sometimes 2. these looked very much like the pheonix lights, but they moved rapdily and not in an arch, they slowly went up while curving into the clouds!
this was utterly amazing, I also noticed that if u squited ur eyes u could see a diamond shape above the light!
im flipping out, because our cameras wre fully charged, but when we took them out video them, they suddenly had no batterys!!!(no charge I mean)
so don't say, its flares, these didnt arch, they drifted slowly curving and arching sideways into the clouds!!!!!!
p.s. I live in cape coral FL USA, if any of you also saw these lights, CONTACT ME IMMEDIANTLY!
I have 2 know if neone else saw this!

Well, I don't believe in Aliens on Earth so I wonder what it could be then...
But since it was on new year, I'm pretty sure it's related to fireworks too. It also sounds like a lot like flares even if you don't believe that. That would give them:
1) no sound
2) pretty slow speed but steadily going up
3) kinda red to orange, glowing with a static light
4) under the clouds
5) possibly some curving in their trajectories, but also not necessarily very visible from your location in case of curving away or towards you.
Well, just a guess, but most of that suits your description. It could of course be something else too; especially on New Year you tend to have a ton of more or less noisy stuff in the skies.
