My google-fu seems to be weak today... is there an online list of all the stars in the Wolf catalogue (ie Wolf 359, etc), that preferably has what Gliese numbers they stars correspond to?
I just wanted to check if Wolf 1481 = Gliese 555 = HN Librae
Wolf star catalogue?

Oh Evil One,
You should use the astronomical database at http://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/sim-fid.pll
Just type in the name of the star and it'll tell you where it is and all of its alternative designations. (The answer is "Yes")

Thanks. I'm sure I looked there, but I must have missed that one. I've been trying to find more proper or alternative names for the stars on the RECONS list. Seems that some of those are Groombridges or Wolfs but they're not indicated as such there. Though it would still be kinda cool to find a list of all the Wolfs anyway.
It also seems that some of the GJ stars listed on RECONS should actually be listed as GL stars. Unless one catalogue has replaced the other?

Oh Evil one,
GJ is the official abbreviation for the current version of that catalog. This is explained on the CDS site (which hosts both VizieR and Simbad). When you click on one of the alternate names for a star, Simbad gives a detailed description of the naming conventions used in the catalogs associated with the name.
In this case, there are three different catalogs and three different people involved.
GJ = Gl = Gls = Gliese = (NN) = (NSC) (Gliese+Jahreiss)
GJ = Gl = Gliese = (W) = (WEPP) = (Wo) = (Woolley) (Gliese+Jahreiss)
