Mars MER first color images

Post #1by danielj » 06.01.2004, 19:12

It?s strange,because it is taking ages to open the first Spirit color images.I am downloading a 1600X1761 image called h_spirir_first-color_02.jpg.
In the Nasa officila site,there aren?t there yet.
As I have said,I have an Athlon XP 1800,256 MB RAM,Geforce 4 mx440se,1100 MB of page page memory,and I have to leave Zone Alarm open,for my safety

I might as well put a link to the image here;

http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/ ... 995_br.jpg

The quality of this first image bodes well for better ones to follow :D

Once again the link for the main website is;
http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/home/index.html

where you can view parts of this picture in greater resolution.

regards

Top-secret airbags... :)

All the raw images are posted on the mars rovers site too- you could make up your own panorama if you wanted to! I tried putting together a few R G and B images the other day to make a colour version- but it.. um.. didn't turn out very well.. (think greeny-pink soil) :)

Really? How did it turn out? Email me the details, i'd like to try this myself again...

You need a special program to make stereo images (or anaglyphs is the technical name). I've got this one http://www.stereoscopy.com/downloads/stphmkre210.zip which is pretty good. (Use the red/cyan option) I guess you already have red/blue glasses, yeah?!

Thanks for the link!
I have green red glasses... but I use them to see mars and they work...
For the RGB, I read about how to do it in the Orbiter Space Flight Simulator Forum. Here you have the link: http://orbit.m6.net/v2/read.asp?id=12904
If you can't enter, tell me...

Well Spirit's now off exploring it's first rock, and it also appears that the soil in the Gusev crater is a little more solid than was expected.

Well, after a gap of over 2 weeks, it looks like Spirit is back to full health, and can now continue it's investigation of Adirondack :D
