While looking up the schedule for the current CME/aurorae, I discovered a fascinating note on the home page of http://spaceweather.com/

Apparently periodic comet 96P/Maccholz, asteroid 2003 EH1, and the Qadrantid, Southern Delta Aquariid, and daytime Arietid meteoroid streams may be pieces of a body from outside our solar system! For details see http://sungrazer.nrl.navy.mil/index.php ... amily_ties

edited to add:
The article above just discusses the orbital relationships of those bodies. Spaceweather is where the comment is made about the strange spectrum of the comet. A Web search located papers published about the comet's unusual spectrum, but I haven't found any other statements that are quite so controversial.
