Re: STS-121
There are some nice sites with Shuttle and/or ISS Addons. Not yet STS-121, but many others. Click the www button in the previous message (bh), for example.toolkeeper wrote:Any add-ons to add Shuttle flights in general or STS-121 in particular?

Model of sts-121 Discovery...

There are a couple of issues...the Canadarm needs completely reworking. It's now longer and has more articulations to do all the inspections needed. Also payload area needs a bit more work and still the chunky engines!
Also I think the orientation of the model is wrong but there is some code you can write in the ssc to correct it. If someone knows how then please post!
Just replace your existing iss mesh with this one.
You will need the texture packs for the iss and shuttle from my www (below) if you've not had any of my models before.
That's all. (edit) I've flipped the model over...but it's drifting sideways!

Thanks Selden...yes...I've been glued to nasa tv too! I need a schematic breakdown of the mission and do some more modelling. In the meantime, think of it as an intermediate.
BTW...if anyone wants to modify these shuttle models in anyway please go ahead. I reckon they could benefit from a little tweaking. Please share your results though.

Of my particular interest is to discover a way to update the orbital parameters to see if Celestia is good enough to represent STS-121 / ISS orbital location in real or near real time in version 1.4.x
See the Preliminary User's FAQ, which is a sticky near the top of the Celestia Users Forum, Q/A #23.

STS-121 / ISS
BH,
2 Questions:
In the zip file / photo that you posted, the depiction of STS-121/ISS docked, that i would take this file name / mesh and edit the spacecraft.ssc in Celestia 1.4.1 to point to this file for spacecraft ISS? Or, would i do this for an entry that I have set up for STS-121?
In the depictions of the STS-121/ISS, What is the current ISS's phase of construction as of July 2006? Are we in phase 3 of construction? The reason I ask is that on the MotherLoad, I see various depictions of ISS at various stages of construction available for downloading.
Thanks in Advance.

Hi Toolkeeper.
1/ If you have an entry set up for sts 121 then I would go for that...the position of the iss in celestia is not correct. If you have data which is more accurate can you share it?
2/ I used the final stage model from my site. I think it looks pretty accurate as to how the iss is constructed so far.
I could also upload sts 121 as shuttle only.
Hope you enjoy the model.

STS-121 / ISS
BH,
1. I am using the 2 line KEPS for ISS that was posted by D. Larsen on June 11, 2006 at this address: http://www.amsat.org/amsat/archive/sare ... 08034.html
I then took the 2 line KEPS data and ran it thru the spreadsheet
http://www.lepp.cornell.edu/~seb/celest ... ets.html#2
to make the conversion into Celestia. I then used a text editor to update the various elements within the file spacecraft.ssc for the ISS.
FYI: Im using Celestia 1.4.1 on an 800 mhz G4 imac using OSX 10.3.9
2. In between doing laundry, I will attempt to set up the entry for STS-121.
