Release:
The Wired Earth
For once, a look at Earth from CyberSpace...

... This is not really a serious work (though the data certainly is), but
more of a fun little departure from the usual Celestia stuff: it is an
animation showing people googling across the globe in a 24-hour period.
To go with this, there is a bumpmap that shows population density. So,
the more intense the light, the more googling. The deeper the shadows,
the more people are there...

The Add-On consists of 3 different versions of 24 maps with nightmaps,
so the scene changes every hour. (Lores, Medres and Hires gives different
views).

You must visit August 14. 2003 to see it, else it will just feature our normal
Earth (a 2k bluemarble map) with a static AltSurface map containing all the
data at a glance. A simple CELscript is included that repeats this day over
and over.

The featured information is courtesy of Google.Inc (?©), 2004. It is
included with permission for use in Celestia.

Thanks to Selden for helpful comments and suggestions.
Thanks also to Rob Pike at Google.Inc.
