Expanding the borders of reality... I have a problem

Post #1by Hungry4info » 11.09.2005, 19:53

I was creating some add-ons in celestia that reside outside the galaxy, and a black hole at the center of the galaxy, but i discovered that there seems to be a certain limit to how far away an object can be. Somewhere around 18,000 ly or so (I'm not exactly sure), stars do not show up at all.
How can i resolve this problem?

And another thing, I created a close binary system, and put a planet around one of the stars in the hope that more than 50% of its would be illuminated as in normal star systems. However, at certain angles, the planet doesn't appear, and only half of it (the half facing the star it orbits) is illuminated. (It's kinda weird bein outside at night and a star which appears 10 times the size of the moon is in the sky, and its still night time!!)

Anybody have an suggestions?
The first problem is my immediate concern. Maybe i want to populate the LMC with a lot of stars? :D

The first issue is a very well known limitation, a bit of searching the forum will reveal TONNES of stuff about it, and explanations and the like.

It would help if you posted your .stc and .ssc files to find out if the problem is with your code or with Celestia for the second problem.
