I have converted and edited this model for Celestia today, and it will probably be part of my latest black hole addon (Cygnus X-1), soon to be released at the Motherlode (but it's already available in the black hole thread). Here's a preview of the ship :

Of course Celestia can handle it. This model isn't very heavy, polygon wise.

Ok, now I understand what you mean, by "internal illumination". Really, I made it too, using Jestr's technique. But it's unreliable. The light parts tend to flicker inside the model. So I trashed that version.
In short, no, Celestia can't handle it, unless there's a trick I'm unaware of.
