opinions on planet addon

between working on my ship addons i like to work on my Tau Ceti planetary system add on.
I thought about doing a tidally locked earth like-moon of a super Jovian.

this is a work in progress, i have no cloud textures on it at this time.

the line between the permanent ice and habitual land seems too sharp to me.. but what do you think?

The green side looks VERY nice. Is that ring of water based on the famous relic impact crater that's in Canada somewhere? Manicouagan, that was it:

Er-hem. Now I look at that image, I think it rather is Manicouagan lake!!! (but that's OK!)

You'll have problems justifying the tidal lock to the superjovian though. Well, not the lock itself, but to have a permanent dark side it has to be tidally locked to the STAR, not the gas giant. And Moons can't be tidally locked to a star - they have to be locked to the planet.

After running it a while in Celestia i got that impression too.
Like i said it is a work in progress.
and yes that is the crater. got it off of the NASA site.
