Mac OS X & Aliases For Add-Ons

Post #1by BlindedByTheLight » 19.04.2005, 20:37

Has anyone had any success using aliases in add-ons?

I'm having two issues. One is I am using two versions of Celestia and am getting tired of having to swap the add-ons folder back and forth. I had hoped to be able to just keep an alias of my main add-ons folder in my second Celestia's extras folder. But the second Celestia doesn't recognize the alias or its "contents".

Secondly, for example, I have only ONE moon normal map but several textures that I want to reference it. I guess I could make copies of the normal map and put it in each add-ons folder but that is a waste of space. I was hoping I could use aliases to reference the normal map... but again, no go. (I know I could put all the Moon's AltSurfaces in ONE folder and have them all reference the moon normal map in the one shared texture folder, but I like to keep all my surface textures in their own compartmentalized folders for easy drag-and-drop removability and ease of sharing with others)

Any thoughts?

Good catch. This looks like a bug in Celestia on OS X, I'll look into it.
