Rigel Kentaurus A v2 has been released.
Rigel kentaurus A v2 is a fictional solarsystem based around Rigel Kentaurus A a.k.a Alpha Centauri A.

Rigel Kentaurus A Version 2.
- Complete rebuild of the planet Jotunheim and its moons.
- Added a specular texture for the planet Midgard.
- New model and texture for the moon Yggdrasil.
- Added a small moon orbiting planet Muspelheim.
- Added atmosphere to the planet Vanaheim.
- Added new texture and bumpmap to the planet Svartalheim.
- Added new texture and bumpmap to the planet Heimdal.
- Added nighttexture and atmosphere for the planet Hel.

one question. Hel, in norse mythology it is a cold dark place.the christian hell is visualised today is such as you show here.

True, but at the time i made the first version i wasnt so picky.
During the update to version 2 i thought about it to switch hel and muspelheim (with muspelheim being the place of fire according to mythology), but so much has changed during the process of upgrading to v2 i wanted something to stay as it was.
And hel as a lava planet was a good alternative.

Ok, I've downloaded the add-on and have a few points to make.
Firstly, most (if not all) of the textures have a pinch effect at the poles. This is not an artifact of Celestia's rendering: I have used POV-ray to render the textures on a sphere and the artifacts remain.
The rings of Jotunheim are the rings of Saturn, with the texture file renamed. Using original rings would be much better.
The mesh used for Ragnarok is the mesh of Ida, with the mesh file renamed. Again, an original mesh would be better.
This add-on has potential to be good, however these issues, especially the pole artifacts need to be addressed first.

I will give my photoshop method in a mini tutorial very soon, meanwhile the best an easy way is to have a blurry zone in the pole. If you want full details here you are in problem...
So in a few days (I have to take shots etc...) my tutorial.

Nice effort, those textures are quite good, but at close range there is some problems... I won't repeat what others have post but just an advice:
Instead of working on severals systems (3 if i'm right? no?) try making 1 but very well done. Try to use the existing textures (jupiter, mercury etc) only as template to begin your work, then layers after layers try to create something really different... The style can be the same (rocky, terrestrial, gaseous etc), but try composing a little bit to avoid too much similitary...

Thanks, ElChristou, I look forward to your tutorial. Until then, I'll go with the blurry method. I'm currently redoing my own Alpha Centauri A system, but have been held up for a few weeks now do to a variety of unrelated issues. Hopefully, when I do get it finished, I'll have something worth the download!
