I would appreciate feedback on this, if i get enough positive results i might, post these lunar textures for eh community to use and modify to their pleasure.

Be careful, you are using a shaded texture to make your moon, so you have to keep the same direction light/shadow when recomposing the texture...

How do you make those textures (especially the earthlike ones)?

planet textures

Post #5by Beowulf01 » 13.03.2005, 22:49

I used the 16k planet earth texture available on the motherlode as the source.
I just select different areas on the earth texture and pasted them to a new image.
I'm currently using paint shop 7, it is VERY handy for this. I really is easy, just be creative, use the clone tool and various brushes to get the landforms you want.

If i can help you any, just let me know.
Glad to help...
but i am a rank armature compared to some of these guys here.. look around it is some Awesome stuff.

Great texture but ... why call it Birmingham of all things?!?!

Sorry, but I used to live in Birmingham (UK) and I don't think such a beautiful planet deserves to be named after a grimy industrial hellhole! :)

I was thinking Birmingham, Alabama.

There is a country Western song called "Paint me a Birmingham", really a good song and it just stuck in my head.

Heh, I almost laughed out loud when I saw that name... Birmingham... haha.

Great textures, I like them.

There's a song called 'Paint me a Birmingham'?! Hahahahaha!! I'm just imagining someone singing it in a Brummie accent: "Piynt me a BUR-ming-um'.

Sorry, no disrespect to Birmingham, Alabama, I'm sure it's lovely. :)

No idea, never been there.
I will probably change the name to something else Persephone, maybe.
