I have made a model for the Barzan Wormhole-the Alpha Quadrant end of the wormhole that ends up in the Delta Quadrant (I havent tried to model this)
Image
This seemed like a good place to put models of the Borg Cube (being attacked by Enterprise)
Image
and also Voyager is in the same system

You can download them from ibiblio website here
http://www.ibiblio.org/celestia/creators/jestr/Barzan%20System.zip
Hope you like it-no planets with this system I'm afraid.Any problems Email me Jestr

Jestr, these add-ons run very sloooowwwly on my poor old computer (Especially the Borg Cube, I have some difficulties to turn around it to make a good screenshot) but... This Worm Hole is properly Incredible! Very great work, indeed, thanks. Jeam

Maybe its just me, but wouldn't it be cool if you entered into that wormhole in Celestia, and actually exited in another quadrant of our grayed galaxy?

I know we haven't put stars out there yet, but it would still be very cool.

Yes it would be cool but I dont know of any wat to do this yet.I could model a tunnel between the two ends but this would look lame from outside and Im not sure how Celestia would handle a model like this, maybe I'll experiment, thanks everybody for kind words,Jestrt

Well, as everybody knows, a successfull transit throught a wormhole can't be done by hand driving. So the transit autopilot engine has to take over. This (script) engine computes your actual coordinates and then steers your spacecraft safely through the wormhole. :D

Technically it's sufficient to create two ends with a short tube to steer into. At the end of the tube, the script does a coordinate jump to the other ends tube and steers out of the hole. As the script knows where you are, this works in two directions. With a little effort the tubes can be hidden from outside view - alternatively a spiral tube could result in a longer and more 'spectacular' flythrought.

Don, Toti or Harry should be able to help with such an autopilot transit celx-script (I truly believe  ).

So excellent work Jestr; it really gets us thinking when an artist like you comes up with something like that. Functional wormholes, even if they aren't really for the main Celestia function itself, can be used on a Celestia online server chat program. It can definetly be utilized in Mostly Harmless.

Jestr:

I really want to download the wormhole. It is great. Please let us know as soon as you have a new website to host it on.

Dear Jean Tag:

Thanks for posting the add-on. I downloaded the wormhole.3ds mesh and other items on your site but unfortunately, you inadvertently omitted the textures that the mesh calls. All I get is a white blob representing the wormhole. Could you please add the jpg textures to the site?

Thanks

Frank

Curious, I've transfered the Complete Borg repertory, but the textures subdirectory does not appear :?: I'm adding it while i'm sending this reply, try to go (same address) in a few time.Jeam.Edit Later: The textures/medres repertory (+-6Mo, unzipped) is added in the Borg Repertory. Enjoy it!

Dear Jean Tag:

Thanks for posting the textures. Sadly, my 128 MB Nvidia GeForce 4 TI 4200 card apparently cannot handle the wormhole. The frame rate is down to under 2 fps. Also, the Borg cube does not display at all for me, and the Enterprise is only 1/2 there (the saucer section is not being drawn) even though I do have the borgvsenterprise.3ds mesh and the entire medres folder you've posted. Finally, I cannot display Voyager because the 3ds mesh is not on the site.

I'd appreciate any help or suggestions you might have. The add-ons look great, if I can get them to work.

Thanks in advance.

Frank

Alas, no suggestions: with my older card, I can see WhormHole, GoTo and see CubevsEnterprise but, there, cannot really move around, or anything else: all directions to Celestia (FOV, movment, take minutes and minutes to react or stop the program -remember there were BIG files: my poor old computer/card have not enough memories!) So, for the update of my Trek Page I have shooted no pictures of Borg and Entreprise, for the moment...
Finally, I cannot display Voyager because the 3ds mesh is not on the site.
 Sorry Frank: Jestr hosted the mesh in another zip. I've forget to replace it. You can find it now in the 'models' folder! Jeam

That's the same video card I have and I get everything just fine, I got the wormhole from jestr's site before it disappeared. It's slow and jerky, and sucks memory and resources like a banshee, but I can see everything fine. My system specs are p4 2.6gig, 512MB RAM, NVidia TI4200 128MB 8x AGP video.
