Someone whip up a system around Zeta 2 Reticuli, add planet LV426 from Alien, and add an alien model (the one Ripley blew out the airlock in the first movie) or two (hey, she blew another out in the 2nd movie too, she was good like that) orbiting the planet.
I don't actually expect that anyone will ever bother to do this, but I had to throw it out there just in case I'm wrong.
Zeta 2 Reticuli deserves at least *some* sort of add-on (sorry if there is one and I don't know about it), since this alien abductee stuff we've all heard about has an ingrained tradition of suspecting that our alien visitor types are from that part of the neighborhood.

Oh yah,
That will be an easy one. If you look at the movie those planets would be a complete nightmare to create. But actualy one of my new textures kind of looks like one of the moons. Now making the the terraformed version would be easy. Now as far as I know there might be a 3D model of the Nostromo but not the refinery part of the ship. And I am almost sure I saw a 3D model for the Suloco from Aliens somewhere as well. In the original scripts and story the planet was supposed to be called Acheron. And they were supposed to find a religous temple devoted to worshiping the aliens. But that all got changed by Ridley Scott. If the movie had been made the way the studio originaly wanted we may not even be discusing this topic as the movie would probably have been a complete turkey. Sometimes bringing in someone to upset the apple cart is a good thing. Ow and the original concept for the alien was it was going to be four legged and run around like a big wild cat. We can all be thankful that got changed as well and they went with Gigier's fantastic ideas instead.

While Geiger's eventual designs are very special, some of his original ideas were not quite so good (The original Chestburster design for instance).
Personally I like some of Ron Cobbs earlier designs for the Nostromo (originally to be called the Leviathan), and his 'California Split-level' bridge design is a joy, but I digress.
If you watch the Original movie, LV426 either had a ring system, or was in fact one of the moons of a ringed world. It seemed to lose them between Alien and Aliens.
Same thing happened to Vulcan betwen Star Trek the Motion Picture and Star Trek III. Vulcan lost a whole system of moons, including one that seemed to fill half the sky ( I postulated that it was Vulcan that was the moon of a much larger super-Terrestrial, in my 40 Eri add-on).
Canon material for most filmic Space Operas seems to change as soon as a second movie shows up.
Back on subject, personally I think a ringed LV426 is much nicer.
Where does the reference of LV426 being a planet of Zeta 2 Reticuli come from anyways?

Sorry, TERRIER I slightly alter my comment for somebody is interested by the Alien's series: the Sulaco model is a simple .3ds format that runs fine in Celestia (some months ago, there was a picture of it, orbiting around Jupiter in my 'SF' pages... I'll show a new pic with its link to download when I'll able to make a true Web site, instead of my simple 'Word' pages, but for the moment I can't do this, alas...) Cheers, JeamTERRIER wrote:Jeam, You were too quick for me, I've just slightly altered my original post.

Cormoran,
I agree with on the bridge issue. The article I read said they changed there mind on its design because it was a little to much like Star Trek. I felt that it made for the look of a bigger ship. The bridge or actually flight deck they went with was just a little small in my opinion.
As for the issue of rings and LV426 actually being on of its moons, I have always thought that was the case. It was a moon of a ringed jovian. For what ever reason James Cameron chose to ignore those facts that were set down in the first movie. Although he was supposed to be on a tight budget so he did allot of corner cutting but in the end you can't tell were he did. If he had any real sense he would have had some CGI retouches done to the scene were we see the terraformed LV426 to include its paerent jovian when they released the special edition DVDs. It would of helped lock in the continuity of the story. But Hollywood is seldom concerned with keeping to the details of any story line. As long as it can make them money they could get away with re-writing all of history and most everyone would probably accept it.

It is always a challenge to get some of your files jestr.
I'm trying since two weeks to get your stargate and starwars collections - with little success. Nor the ftp-server neither the caravanmail repository are reacting well. The ftp-server always disconnects after few seconds, the caravanmail seems to have constantly exceeded quotas.
So how long will it take to get 'alien'? Months?

Jestr,
Got 67% of the 2001 main ship, and cannot re-connect no matter what I do...
Just thought I'd let you know.
Take care, Bob
