I have made a simple model, hires and medres texture and Grants ssc for Sedna (although I gave it a RotationPeriod also-not sure if this is right). At the moment you can only get it from my FTP server here
ftp://81.108.220.185
It may be slow going so I'll try to upload it to a different site later today,Tuesday,Jestr

I have tried to obtain this addon, but Winzip 7.0 reports it as an incomplete zip file (as does Windows XP (with whatever extractor MS has written)).

I am stuck with Winzip 7.0 at work, but I could get something else for XP (my home machine). Any ideas as to what will work with this addon?

Thanks. I downloaded the individual files, instead of the zip. I'll try them tonight.

I have read that sedna is very red, second only at mars...
and probably has one satellite (because his rotation is slow...)

I suppose I'm doing something pretty stupid -- again... but I can't get this to work. Sedna shows up, and the model is there, but when I try to apply the texture, I just get a black body.

Help!

Jestr:

I have loaded Sedna and appreciate your great work. One suggestion! Sedna is a long way from the Sun and may be covered with a reddish or dark dust. Your model's texture looks much too bright and lit up. At a distance approaching the Oort cloud, would Sedna not be at least 50% darker?

Regards,

Frank

Frank,

Please read the "Preliminary User's FAQ" at the top of the "Users" forum,
in particular Q/A # 16: Why does the illumination level in Celestia not fall off the farther from the Sun I go - surely it should be very dark by the time I get to Pluto?

Also, my understanding is that Sedna seems to have a rather high albedo.

I get the same :? The med-res texture works fine, but when I switch to high-res it goes black.

With Selden's help, I figured out the problem. While I don't know what causes it, I went into PSP and resized the texture to 1048x512, and now it works fine on medium resolution.
