Be careful, MindToAsk: you have to edit your DSC file:
Axis [-0.554375 -0.8194070.145742]
must be
Axis [-0.554375 -0.819407 0.145742]

if you want the model works fine

Other thing: can't open the .zip when they are fragmented (part 1, 2 ...)
Please, can somebody send me, or mirror MTAsk's addons in complete zips? (Carina, NGC5128, Eagle neb, M33 and Cone Neb)
I try to update a little my 'Universe' pages with shots....

Many thanks

get it now! http://www.MindToAsk.go.ro

Sorry for that error in NGC 4650. It's fixed now.
Jeam Tag, the splits were created with winzip 9.0 beta. You can get it here: http://www.winzip.com. I can't upload files larger than 512kb, that's why I splited the files.[/b]

danielj, I'm signing up right now on 50megs.com, but I have a slow connection... so you'll have to wait...
Not all the addons are billboards.
As for the MX 440 I don't know... if it doesn't work, try to resize the textures.

I also find it impossible to rejoin your split archives. You shouldn't rely on people downloading the newest archiver version for getting things together again. Why don't you split them before zipping, in a way that the can be extracted onto each other. Just retain the directory structure, and leave some part off at each archive.

You should also make the backgrounds of your textures transparent, to avoid black striping while orbiting around your galaxy models. And finally you should remove any (leading) stars, as they are only foreground leftovers.

I only split files so I can upload them on the server (I have a 512kb file size limit). If I archive a jpg file larger than 1.5MB the result will be >512, so I won't be able to upload it. In this way I would also need to split the file (only a single file this time, so... what's the point?).
The background of my textures is transparent (you can see that in the Eagle Nebula icon from download page), but the jpg format doesn't have an alpha channel. That's why I use a black background (a second layer in PhotoShop behind the transparent layer). There would be another sollution for having transparent textures: saving the file as a .png or .dds(with alpha), but a single png would exceed my account limit and the dds has no smooth edges (or at least I don't know the settings for that) and it's also big. Some of the addons use a transparent 3ds model.

Mind

Why not just host your whole site on 50megs, which has no limit like go.ro does? Then everyone will definitely be able to view your site, and there will be no need for any file splitting.

I wouldn't bother with any host that has a tiny limit like 512k...

A very nice lookin site with some quality content too.
nice work Mind 8)

For anyone having trouble extracting the split files
just remove the zip extention from the end of the second and/or third files

so the files look like this

File1.zip
file2.z01
file3.zo2

then just run and extract the first zip file

This is not a problem with the file names being named wrong.
windows will automaticly add the .zip extention to the end of the second and third files. :?

Thank you Mind, thank you Darkmiss: I finally succeeded in opening the several parts zips. I resized the images in 2k to be able to see them on my poor computer and added the screenshots and the links in the "Univers" pages of my catalogue: I hope to put them on line soon. Jeam

there does seem to be a problem with the model from the cone nebula
all the files extract fine except the 3ds model
that extracts to only 1kb and does not load.

could you look into this Mind

There's nothing wrong with the 3ds file, Darkmiss (maybe some download error). Anyway you can download only the 3ds file form here:

I'm happy to know you all (?) like my addons. Thanks for your support. If someone would like to help me, please do this by providing some links to hi-res astro-pics.[/url]
