M31 Add-on

Post #1by christoria » 23.11.2003, 05:37

Hello,

I have a new M31 (Andromeda) add-on for Celestia. I think it looks excellent. If you've seen the old post, it is much different from that one. Is there any place I can post it for download? It is roughly 2MB's.
Thank you,

christoria

Do you have a website? If not, check with your internet service provider.
They usually allow you to set up a limited free website. In the mean time, I'd be happy to post it on my site which is almost ready to re-open!

What type of file is it? JPEG, PNG, or Zip? You can Email it to me at:
techsgtchen@earthlink.net
Also send me any descriptions, credits, etc., that you would like to include.

Please keep in mind that celestia is a multi platform program and running on some unix variants too. In these systems filenames are case sensitive!
The M31 add-on uses "m31.3ds" in the M31.dsc while the actual model file is called "M31.3ds".
Just a minor problem, but good to know when linux users complain about problems with your add-ons :D

Thank you for posting that link. How does everyone like it? Does it look ok?

steffens - I was indeed unaware of the case sensitive problem in UNIX. Windows Celestia is not like that at all. I'll keep it in mind for the future.
Thank you,

Very good this M31 add on,but it can be much improved. The models and textures of M81 and NGC 4622(the pie plate galaxy) looks much more natural and convicing.I?m sorry but seem a kind of photo applied to Celestia, like a billboard object, only slightly better.Well,it?s my opinion...
