Shuttle/ISS

Hello...here's a model of the orbiter docking with the ISS...
Image

The model was scaled down quite a bit to fit and has lost the textures as a result.

http://www.berasan.com/celestia/orbiteriss.zip

It's around 150kb.

I will do the same with Mir...hopefully all textures will remain intact!

Tomorrow night (Friday).

Many regards...bh.

some questions i have:
-which model of the iss are you using? one you made? the standart that comes with celestia??

-something not about your model: the real iss(the one orbiting the earth now) its completed??? they finished building it??

Maybe.

It is still missing most of the planned modules, but it is not clear if they'll be able to put the rest into orbit. That depends on whether or not the shuttles are allowed to fly again. NASA wants to launch the next shuttle mission to the ISS in March, but many of the shuttles' problems will not be fixed by then.

after puting the reply, i went to a webpage called http://www.estacionespacial.com (it means "space station") and there i found a lot of info about the modules that are already there, and the ones that should be in the next year...
some time ago i read about the problem that there is no enough money to complete it, and i also read that with the columbia tragedy, the only chips able to transpor modules are the russian.
and i ve also read about the idea of launching teh suttle on march.

ElPelado...the ISS model came from Darkmiss, I can't remember the link...you'll have to search. I just added 'Discovery'....some scaling involved...and merged the two models together.

I would like to add some textures now to ISS, but I think the resulting model would be to heavy file size wise.

I've been looking for pics of the current ISS config....if anyones got one, post it and I'll try to update the model.

I think it looks nice to see it in all its glory...especially with the shuttle!

Why not use Beginning and Ending times and several models to show how they expanded the ISS?

The ESA has a sequence of assembly pictures at
http://ravel.esrin.esa.it/multimedia/esa_iss_assembly_sequence/gallery.html

Added slightly later:
The corresponding NASA page is at http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/images/station/assembly/ndxpage1.html

It has different pictures than the ESA web site.

I would say this model is more accurate than Celestias model...It's the one I used with the shuttle.
