galaky maker? galaxy questions

Is is possible to make new galaxy models?

The ones in celestia are very dim and kind of sparse...

Also, couldnt nebulae, and other billboard type add ons be created volumetrically (like the galaxies), or at least approximated?

can galaxies spin?

Umm, considering the real-world basis of Celestia's mechanics, a rotating galaxy would take millions of years to rotate (the Milky Way takes about 200 million years if I remember my Monty Python songs correctly).

However, that aside, I believe elsewhere in this very forum are Galaxy type add-ons posted, which look very nice indeed. I've not downloaded them as my interests on Celestia lie a little closer to home (and a bit smaller).

If you haven't already, please read the "preliminary user's FAQ" in the Users Forum.

I agree that it would be nice if Celestia supported some kind of volumetric rendering.

I like to sit under the clouds and watch the sunsets on different planets and also like to zoom all the way out, just to grasp the vastness...

I also have EarthViewer which lets me zoom from viewing the earth as a globe down to the painted markings on the streets some imagery is 3 in. resolution!.

celestia does seem to support volumetric objects as, far as I can tell (galaxies arent just texture maps, they are 3d objects made of 'fuzzy stars' particles).

Also, all the globular clusters look identical...

If I can find out how to make them, I'll make a ton of replacement galaxy objects.

I would like to create my interpretation of magnetars, quasars, and other exotic objects
