Heres some screens for my upcoming Altair system of planets...This will introduce a project I was working on before I left...land masses...
Now to add trees and possibly alien cities...
more to come...
ps>> there is however one small problem when placing these objects stationary...positioning....for one models still need to be rotated in studio max about 5 deg to get them perfectly flat....no biggie got that settled but theres also the positioning problem....one> how would I go about positioning an object using Long and Lat? If I remember I think there is commands for these... two> when using eccentricity and inclination I have to position it further away in some instances...using semimajoraxis...Is there a better solution to this to keep it positioned right where I want it no matter the planets orbital specs? Suppose I need a foruma of sorts for figuring the proper semimajoraxis and other variables to position it correctly...Using an ecc of 0.0 and an inc of 0.0 I can position an object equal distance to the planets radius...

Ras',
Have you read Grant Hutchison's description of how to use "dummy" objects as placeholders?

For cerelio...Its either the 3ds class loader in Celestia or the 3ds format...There is always a seam on every 3ds file I have made thus far in Celestia...And 3d studio max doesnt show a seam on the model when rendered...And its not the texture...I checked that first
For the rest heres a fix...
