Manned mission to Mars

Post #1by kristoffer » 09.02.2012, 09:13

I'm gonna create an addon for a manned mission to Mars and here's the info of the mission:

Mission Type: Manned mission
Launch date: 11th of december 2024
Launch site: Kennedy Space Center
Mission duration: 3 months
Arriving Mars: Around March-April 2025
Number of crews: 6
Mission duration(on Mars): ca. 2 Earth years
Backwards to Earth: Around January 2027(landing in Atlantic Ocean)

The mission
When the crew arriving on Mars, on Valles Marineris, they're gonna be on Mars to look after if it exist water on Mars. They're gonna send a mirror outside the planet and send reflection from the Sun to Mars. This will be the first step to terraform Mars.

This is gonna make to heat up the planet, and maybe possibly creating weather systems

I'm gonna tell more about the othe mission that's gonna send the colonists, when the terraforming of Mars is finished

FYI, there is already an elaborate Celestia addon that tells the story of the complete colonization and terraforming of Mars. It was created over 4 months in 2008, and shows the changes that Mars may undergo in the next 1,000 years. It includes 8 giant mirrors shining on Mars complete with individual aiming laser stations, over 25 separate Mars textures done by one of Celestia's best designers ... Don Edwards, showing how Mars will change over time, sound effects that play from within Celestia, and even a neat video movie recorded by Mars colonists of the future.

You can obtain it on the motherlode website in the "education" section. It is Activity 5. It can run on Celestia 160 or 161, but it is designed to be run from within the educational version of Celestia, which you also find in the same educational section of motherlode.

Enjoy

Frank
