Rosphevron, a quintuple star system

Post #1by sanduleak » 24.05.2010, 11:18

Hi all,

I'm already well advanced in the process of designing the textures and orbital elements of all bodies in hydrostatic equilibrium within Rosphevron, a system with five stars (two binaries and 1 solo star).
This means 6 planets and 10 moons.

Here are a couple of pics to give you an idea of thr upcoming Celestia package.

Sounds (and looks) very interesting! I can't wait!

Thanks!

I'm polishing the solar system SSC now, so the release should come soon. It will include:
1) surface maps for the planets and moons
2) SSC file containing orbital elements for most bodies, except a few that will have custom XYZ coordinates because their orbit is chaotic due to close encounters with nearby stars
3) STC file containing the 200000 stars of the galaxy
4) ephemerides for the 5 stars of the solar system: since Celestia cannot simulate barycenter motion, I will provide several STCs rangin from epoch 2010 to 2016

Wow... awesome! What tools did you use to generate all those stars

Thanks! :)

It's not a tool but a php script. I use a Levy distribution to generate the stars' luminosity (hence the magnitude and mass), and a gaussian for the inclination and distance from the center.

The STC can be downloaded here:

If you also download the celestial background, careful it is BIG (400k stars!)
