Uncharted Worlds

Hello all

I am starting an add-on for Celestia called Uncharted Worlds which is set in the Orion Arm in The Milky Way.

It is set from 2099 AD to 2199 AD, a time when mankind has already made travel in space possible.

The add-on is focused around a collection of stars known as "The Local Collection", a group of stars all very close to Sol.

At this moment in time I have designs for at least 100 solar systems, all of them have been planed on pad and paper. Also all textures, models and data are created and modded by myself.

Other people may wish to help with this add-on, if so please PM me and I will see what I can give you :)

A website is also under development for this add-on however no further details about it will be revealed until I have time to do so.

To introduce the add-on to the fans of Celestia, I have created and released the first solar system of the add-on. The link is below.. enjoy!

I hope this sounds more constructive than critical... but...

Regarding the preview you have available for download, when you have literally five celestial bodies that use the same texture, just coloured different ways, it gives the impression that the add-on was cheaply done, and likely very quickly. Perhaps instead of making hundreds of poor quality star systems, you might focus you efforts into a single high quality system.

I personally would rather download a high-quality add on consisting of just a single planet, than an add-on with hundreds of low-quality planets.

Hungry,

I actually do take this as constructive advice and will work on a better texture set for this system :), so this topic should NOT be locked as I may post future releases and links to improve this system and for future systems. What I released was a beta or w.i.p of the system to see if the community would throw in any suggestions ;).

However as much as I take your advice I must stress that this is an add-on which displays many systems, big and small, similar to Orions Arm or ArcBuilders. This comes back to what I said when I made the post, if anyone would like to help in this add-on please PM me. Anything can be helped with from data through to models.

Anyway thanks for the tips Hungry I will give Ross 128 a brush up :D

If you want, you can PM me the orbits and masses of your planets and I can plug them in to a gravity simulator and check them for stability.

Or far better yet, I can show you how to do it.

What software gravity simulator do you use Hungry4info?

If I use a gravity simulation software, then I just use "Gravity Simulator".

I usually just use Systemic, throw the planets in and let it run stability tests. That seems more efficient to me.

Where can we find Systemic? And does it run stability tests for binary systems as well as single-star systems?
