Blake's 7

I'm currently working on an Addon (or two) illustrating one or two of the episodes of the British TV series Blake's 7. (People argue over whether the apostrophe should be there. It was left out of the program's title graphics.)

Here are a few screengrabs, which already have been published elsewhere -- on the official B7 forum, on my blog and on my Celestia page.

I dunno when the Addon(s) will be finished. It depends on whether I decide that a "diorama" is enough or if the spacecraft should interact in some way. Interaction would be significant work.

The planet uses four 1K fractal textures for its surface, bumpmap, specularity, and clouds, generated using Torben Mogensen's program planet.

For scale, Liberator is about 1km long.

I like particularly Servelan's cruiser. :)

Please, crank up the texture. Can you do the same texture in 4K ?

It's just a matter of telling it the resolution and waiting. And waiting....
When given the same seed, it always produces the same effective result.
I may include a 4K hires texture when I make the Addon available.

I never heard about this series at all! Now, I agree with Cham, the cruiser seems to be pretty cool...

I've assembled a few of the models I've mentioned into a preliminary Addon for Celestia, illustrating one event in the second season opening episode Redemption.

http://www.lepp.cornell.edu/~seb/celestia/b7/files/b7_redemption.zip (v0.5, 4 MB, expands to 9 MB) It needs a lot of improvement. Please provide suggestions.

You'll need Celestia v1.6.0 Release Candidate 1 to view it because of the way I defined the trajectory of the Liberator. The Windows version is available at

Excellent stuff!

Blakes 7 reminds me of when I first set up home with my wife; we had a washing mashine called a 'Liberator Twin Tub'
by the magic of Google image search here it is
The Liberator

Doing the laundry was the closest I could get to a trip into space in those pre-Celestia days...

Another preliminary B7 Addon is now available. (It's preliminary because adding all the illuminated windows is more than I can face right now, so I decided to publish what I've accomplished so far.)

http://www.lepp.cornell.edu/~seb/celestia/b7/files/b7_trial_075.zip (6.1MB expands to 15.5MB)

It uses some of the models shown above to illustrate a few events in the Blake's 7 episode "Trial".

Slightly more info is available on the Web page
