Request: Sci-Fi Add-ons from a classic series
Posted: 11.03.2009, 01:08
I downloaded Celestia because I stumbled upon it by accident, and after spending a few hours exploring the known universe (At least known by celesta) I did a bit of research on add-ons. However, there is one problem with it, the add-ons I had hoped to find do not exist, and unfortunately I have no experience with making 3D Models, texturing, or anything of the sort.
So, let me first start off by saying, if this is out of place, please correct me, I didn't see anything against requests in the rules.
Now, onto my request. In 1979 there was a Japanese animation known as Mobile Suit Gundam, which is still producing squeals, Prequels and spin-offs today. Please, before I'm harassed for something anime, please understand that I don't want anything to do with popular series like: Gundam Wing, Gundam Seed, and Gundam 00, the objects I want are strictly tied to the original show, and it's closest spin-offs. Also, I feel there is no need to do the robots from the series, since I just want the geographical figures. (Is geographical the word used for space? Oh well, you get what I mean.)
The objects I'm looking for will be listed below, and with them some very in depth research done by a wonderful fan of the series.
The Article: "It's Life, GM, But Not As We Know It!" by Dafydd Neal Dyar talks about large Space Colonies, based off the O'Neil Cylinder. This object is number 1 on my list, since I would love to see the Earth Sphere cluttered with these wonderful Sci-Fi creations. Further reading into this article "Home, Home in Lagrange" Shows maps of where these items are located around earth, and the theoretic science explaining how they can exist there.
Next on my list are textures of the moon, to show the inhabited locations of space colonists. The two major ones are located in the craters: Cayley, where the famous lunar landing occurred [The colony named Von Braun]. The second main colony is located in the Tsiolkovsky crater [Known as Granada]. Again, the wonderful author of the first two articles has another article pertaining to this, which can be found here: "Inconstant Moon"
The third most important structures are the asteroid bases. While needed resources to construct the magnificent colonies, humans needed a place to get metal. So, by attaching pulses to asteroids, they could be brought into Earth's orbit for a set amount of time, until they where used up, or converted into colonies. The asteroids that I am mostly Interested are known as: Luna II, A Baoa Qu, Solomon, and Axis. Yet Again, a detailed article can be viewed here: "Upon This Rock."
The articles contain pictures, and if more information is needed I can scour the internet for it. I don't have much to offer for these being made, and can understand if nobody cares to make them. If there is anything that I can offer, then feel free to ask, also, I do hope you enjoy the reads, they are very interesting for anyone interested in space colonizing theory, and alternate histories.
