NEW addons (DOWNLOAD LINKS)

I finally have access to a good file server (thanks to Frank). So I'll post links to new addons here. Take note that I'll update the first message of this thread from time to time with some new links, so stay tuned. Expect LOTS of addons from here ! :)

TRANSLATION NOTICE : All my addons are using some French strings (SSC, STC, DSC, and CELX files). I don't have time to translate everything to any other language, so it's the responsability of the user to edit the files by himself. Don't forget to open/save the files under the UTF-8 file format. Translation is up to you. The addons are free, so translation is a small fee to pay

All the addons published here were made with Celestia 1.6 in mind. Many of them are using the "layers" and "multi-layers" concept that I introduced some times ago, so the addons may not work properly with an older version of Celestia.

DISCLAIMER : I'm in no way responsible for any troubles you may experience on your computer, file lost, etc. Use at your own risk.

COPYRIGHT : All the addons published here are copyrighted works. You may NOT use the files from the addons for ANY commercial activities. The addons are available freely for personal uses and educational activities only.

Of course, feedback, opinions and suggestions are welcome here.

Have fun !

How about Frank's commercial activities?? ;-) . Are you saying that he's not allowed to use your add-ons when selling his Celestia-EDU stuff? Or did you grant him a special deal in exchange of hosting your add-ons?

As far as I can see, Frank's "commercial activities" consist of charging for posting Celestia-EDU on DVD/CD and posting it to you. Since it can be downloaded for free if you dont want that, I fail to see that Celestia-EDU in itself is a "commerical activity".

Since we had this at length before, just a brief reminder about Frank's licensing scheme, including school and district-wide licenses, for example

For single use on up to five classroom
or teaching computers
: $49.00
Choose CD Set or DVD
For use in a school computer lab or server
on up to 30 computers
: $69.00
Choose CD Set or DVD
For a total school license on an unlimited
number of computers
: $89.00
Choose CD Set or DVD

For District-wide license, email for pricing at: fsgregs@comcast.net.

While this is not a lot of money, such a detailed licensing scheme clearly constitutes a commercial actiivity.

If you read my formulation well, it should become clear that I was NOT claiming that Celestia-EDU in itself is a "commerical activity".

Please note also that I have refrained from making any comments about what I think about this activity.

After downloading it myself, I don't find it asking for a password. Another one confirm this anomaly ?

No pas here but I guess the * may cause problem on Windows...

BTW Cham, you should perhaps think in releasing textures in dds; DW's SquishDDS do the job and very well!

I've changed the SgrA.zip file, so download again, and tell if it now decompress correctly.

Martin,

I just tried the large version of your Klypin-Kravtsov simulation model.
It took about ten seconds to load on my system, and then, I could
easily navigate both inside and outside the model. I got nearly 20 fps.
This is a great addon ! Thanks. :D

The add-on looks OK for any rendering path EXCEPT OGL 2, where the sprites are BIG reddish squares. This must be a bug in the code (not the add-on).

For non-OGL 2 rendering, I get even 40 fps with my old machine while travelling through the cube. However there is a large amount of flickering which again should not happen.

This could be so much better done at the C++ code level...my old dream...

Beautiful add-on Martin! It runs at 60fps (i.e. limited by monitor refresh rate) on my GeForce 8800. We need more points :)

I'll convert it to a binary cmod so that it loads faster.

Are you running with the latest code from SVN? There was a bug with point sprites that was a result of a change I made about a week ago. The fix went in a couple days ago.

For non-OGL 2 rendering, I get even 40 fps with my old machine while travelling through the cube. However there is a large amount of flickering which again should not happen.

I see some minor flickering that's simply the result of rendering as points. Is this what you're seeing?

OK, indeed I have exceptionally not upgraded from SVN for a few days, since I was writing code ;-). Now OGL 2 is fine. The fps is down to 30 but that's understandable due to a nicer rendering. No flickering in OGL 2. Only in other modes (point particles) the flickering is still strong when I glide with 1e7 ly/s across the cube...
