Lines between stars

Post #1by Heartofthewolf » 17.11.2008, 16:26

Hello all, i am a writer and i am working on some background info for a series of novels i am working on. i found celestia and think it would be a wonderful tool to help me establish some "trade route" type things for my books. I need to somehow create lines between stars in Celestia. is this possible? i have already figured out how to create planets and the like for other star systems, but the lines between them still elude me. thank you!

There are two ways to do it. You can use asterisms which is what the constellation lines are made of. The drawback to that is you only get one color.
Another way is to make a cmod object. That's the best way because you can use more than one color.

Take a look in this thread for more details.

That asterism approach seems best...i dont need more than one color and its very complicated the other way...but i cant seem to get the lines to show up in c3elestia. i kept the smae code format as the original asterisms file, so what am i not doing right?

"Test route"
[
[ "Sol" "Proxima" ]

I had that problem at first and found it was the text editor I was using. Try a different one. If you are using XP try word pad instead of notepad.

I am using word pad. i added the closing bracket so now it looks like this:

"Test Route"
[
[ "Sol" "Alpha And" ]
]

Still nothing.

Works now...neededto start over with a clean Install of Celestia itself. thanks for your help!

Your code works for me. You do have constellations turned on while viewing it? If they are not turned on then you won't see anything.
