NEW addon : Hubble's classification chart in Celestia
I'm building another layer : the Hubble's classification. It isn't finished yet, since I want to add sone CMOD lines (may be not) and nice some labels :
I also noticed that the SBa and SBb templates are reversed, relative to others. I wonder why.
Of course, the addon can be toggled ON/OFF at will.
EDIT : Here's the final addon :

Re: Work in progress : Hubble's classification chart in Celestia
H?h?... that is pretty cool... Perhaps this chart could be better at a cosmological scale?

The galaxies in this chart are located at 1 million LY from Sol, and have a typical size of 100 000 LY diameter.

Ah ok...
(huge chart in that case!)
I wonder about some kind of construction using galaxies...

Heheheee, you're reading my mind : filaments, walls and bubbles...

The addon is almost finished. I'm just wondering about the transparent square around each galaxy type. Looks like some 3D picture or "hologram", in Celestia. Any opinion ?

I personally prefer it without the square.
Pretty neat add-on by the way =)

What about a dimmer square (really dim) and a light frame around?

I was thinking too about something like this. I'll try it. I may also add the % of each class in the visible universe.

Here's a test version. Do you think this is better ? Personally, I'm not sure...

If you go this way, with a larger square (to let breath a bit more the galaxies) and a thinner frame, it should be ok...

This is the best I could do, with the frame. What do you think ?

Not sure. A simple yellow line for the frame is not possible?

Like in the previous test with a frame ? I think it's looking "heavy". Do you mean a simple CMOD line ?

Re: NEW addon : Hubble's classification chart in Celestia
I think this is very good (CMOD frame) :
And if some people don't like the frame, it can be removed easily. The color of the frame can be edited very easily too. I also placed the semi-transparent glass into the unique CMOD frame file, so everybody could change its transparency effect and color according to taste.

Yep, not bad! And the all customizable stuff is always the best solution!

Re: NEW addon : Hubble's classification chart in Celestia
The balance is now perfect (to my taste) :
It's really a great thing to be able to fusion pure CMOD lines with simple planes, into the same TEXT CMOD file. The match is perfect. So everybody could simply remove the frame or the glass seperately, or both (galaxies without any frame and glass). The CMOD code is very simple :
And that plane with glass CMOD could also be used for other purposes (Milky Way galactic plane, for example, or to place a frame around something else).

Re: NEW addon : Hubble's classification chart in Celestia
I added the population statistics, according to Celestia's database. I would prefer to show the % in the real visible universe, but I'm finding few info about that, and the data is very inconsistent, on the net. Any suggestion ?
