Delta Trianguli

Post #1by PlutonianEmpire » 04.08.2008, 02:35

Right now, I'm working on the Delta Trianguli system, and so far, I've got three planets, including the Belle Hades planet I showed off in the "post your celestia pics" topic, and two moons, both moons of Belle Hades. I plan on uploading this addon to the Motherlode eventually, so I would like some feedback on it before I do so.

Also, do you think I should add more planets and moons, or leave it as is? I plan to upload the addon to the motherlode via web browser, so my limit is 8 megs, and I'll convert the textures to jpeg at the last minute.

And how realistic does Belle Hades look?

I have also been working on the Delta Trianguli system recently. The most important consideration for this system is to know where the stable orbits begin. How close is the innermost planet? In my addon, my closest planet is at about 0.7 AU from the two suns, with a handful of Vulcanian asteroids closer than that.

For Beta Hades, I think the islands are too uniform in size and shape. The areas of landmasses would be more likely to have an exponential distribution.

log 10 area in km2

Eurasia: 7.732
Africa: 7.482
N America: 7.389
S America: 7.251
Antarctica: 7.137
Australia: 6.881

My innermost planet, Hadea, is 0.6451 AU.

I did a new map for Belle Hades. Is it any more believeable?

Know any tutorials on how to make an original earthlike planet with paint shop pro?

EDIT: Here's a map I made from scratch:

To make an Earthlike map from scratch, I find it helpful to sketch a map first with pen and paper. Where do you want the continents? How big are they? What rough shape do you want them to be? Do you want land at the poles? Are there any landlocked seas? You can draw the plans with a mouse as well, but it is definitely easier to draw with the fingertips than the whole hand.

After that, you can then create the same map in the drawing application.
