I am working on a Halo Universe add-on and I got a 1 piece Halo model, by exporoting from the PC verison, it was originally a Wavefront ".obj" and converted it into a 3ds, but when you add texture to it distorts the textures like this

Image

Dose anyone know why it dose this? If you can help I would really appreciate it. Here is a Image of the whole thing with it's planet "Threshold".

Image

What the planets look like has never been shown in game, you can on see very little in the "Bestiarum" given in the Halo 3 Legendary Edition.
I have given them textures from other add-ons I have download, based on there statistics and descriptons in the Bestiarum.
Here are some Images of the home worlds. I won't get into the Halo story but for anyone has played I will put what race homeworld it is.

Doisac, homeworld of the Brutes.
Image

Sanghelios, homeworld of the Elites.
Image
Image

Balaho, homeworld of the Grunts.
Image

Palamok, homeworld of the Drones.
Image

Eyan the Moon of Chu'ot, homeworld of the Jackals. (Eayn Foreground, Chu'ot Background)
Image
Just Eayn.
Image

The rings of Te, homeworld of the Hunters.

I am still working on it, I still need to add The Ark and the other rings.

You need to familiarize yourself with UV mapping. The graphics you use aren??t mapped to the meshes correctly. There are tools for this in your 3D editor.

If you are on Windows, Anim8or is freeware and is very easy to get into. I am on OSX and use Cheetah3D, not free, but not expensive either. And there is of course Blender, for all platforms, also free, very powerful, but perhaps not the best choice for a novice; the learning curve is steep.

I found out why my textures dont work for the Halo, the model is a complete mess, problaly easier to make anther model. When I use a UV maping program, it is three triangles and blur of lines below them. I am not sure what modeling programs Bungie used or if it is the program that I used to get the model from the Halo.map files did this to the model.

I don??t understand what this means.
Maybe you should start out by creating a very simple model for yourself and map a texture to it to see how it behaves. For example, try a globe and a tiny Earth-map. When you are familiar with the UV tool, look at your Halo model again.
