A new spacestation
Yes!! I'm planning a new (unrealistic) spacestation. It's called superstation. I already pulled it out of 7 spheres and 2 cylinders. The problem is that when I open Celestia, I can't see it. What's the problem?

Even if I do post my ssc, I will still not see it. Maybe it's because of the textures that gives the spacestation the look, or is it me? Here's the screenshot.
Superstation from 6.8 km
As you can see in the screenshot, superstation is not showing up. The label is, but the spacestation is not. Can you help me?

Here's the contents of Superstation.ssc.
You also need the 3ds file.
Code: Select all
"Superstation" "Sol/Earth/Moon"
{
Class "spacecraft"
Mesh "Superstation.3ds"
Radius 1.7
EllipticalOrbit {
Period 0.034856747562036728364
SemiMajorAxis 360000
Eccentricity 0.57437676666767676767
Inclination 73.4005
}
}
You also need the 3ds file.

The problem is solved. I put the 3ds file inside the models directory and I can see the spaecraft. I don't have to put the 3ds fie inside the extras folder. Here's a screenshot.
All this time, I didn't even know I was supposed to put the 3ds models inside the models folder.
Also, that screenshot was actually my work.

This comment tells me that you haven't read

You really should. Otherwise you'll make other mistakes of this type. (You really shouldn't put your Addon models in Celestia's models directory.)
But you are making a great start!
Perhaps the next thing to try is to paint a surface texture for your station. You can draw iits windows and airlocks and not have to make them part of the model right away. That way you can try different layouts to see which one looks best.

I may not have read http://www.lepp.cornell.edu/~seb/celest ... intro.html but I have learned how to create ssc and stc files. At least I have learned something, unless someone tells me that I have learned nothing in this forum.
I also have a question. How could I make windows and all kinds of stuff?
Where do I get a program that paints textures for my ship? I also need to put windows and airlocks, but where do I get that kind of program?
