Cosmic Fantasy Addon here (DOWNLOAD LINK)

This weekend, I'm finishing a fantasy model I started a long time ago. I had to remake many pieces from scratch. But here it is, almost finished. It's a pretty cosmic "spaceship", flying in outer space. Once finished to my taste, I may give a link to the addon here, if there are some ppl interested in this kind of stuff :

EDIT : Both models are finished. Here's a download link, for your pleasure (40 MB zip file). I know, it's a big file to download, just for some useless (non-scientific) fantasy addon, but hey, it's FREE ! Feel free to give your opinion in this thread.

Looks cool... I remember this from when you first showed it.

I must ask though - what possessed you to create that? Did you just randomly think "I know, I'll do a buddhist temple floating through space in Celestia!", or was there a particular inspiration for it?

Well, it's a bit hard to explain. It just happens that I'm really interested in buddhism for itself, and I traveled several times in asia to do some trekking (India, Nepal, Tibet, Laos and Cambodia). I had the chance to see many of the great temples there (bodnath, swaymbunath, Lamayuru, Tikse, Hemis, etc), and those temples are very impressive. Buddhism and hindouism are "cosmic" religions and I thought that it would be great to have a virtual temple in Celestia. In the tibetan tradition, the wind can bring your wishes (flags flapping in the breeze) and a prayer's wheel can even praise for you. Since this philosophy is universal in some way, it also works even in virtual space.

I forgot to say that my main inspiration for this model was Escher's "Another world" drawing, so this explain why I wanted to create a temple floating in outer space :

Here's a "metaphysical" variation (old model reworked), more Escher like :

"What puts the sacred fire into the fundamental equations ?"

The models are finished. Works best with Celestia 1.5.0. I've edited the first post to add a download link.

Wow that is a beautiful image!. I am curious, what software(s) did you use and how many dozens of hours must that have taken?

I've just updated the file. Some parts are now much bettter (especially bezels, and the skull on a temple). If you already have downloaded the previous version, well, I'm sorry. This should be the final version.

JimHarvie,

I'm using Cheetah3D on the Mac. And yes, it took a lot of time to do. This project was made over a pretty long period of time, working on it a bit at a time.
