No one didn??t explain yet why my ISS model has no small details like the NASA logo, the US flag, the name of the US laboratory and others. My ISS textures are in Textures>medres and the ISS12 in Models.I tried to put everything in Extras and didn??t work,too...
I??m using Celestia 1.4.1 final.

Daniel,

The model of the ISS that comes with Celestia is missing all the things you mention. Maybe that's what you're looking at.

It looks like this. Note that the solar panels, are blue and there are blank signs on the modules.

If you install the Addon ISS model "isscomplete" that is on the MotherLode without its textures it looks like this. Note that the solar panels (and everything else) are white.

If you install the textures, it looks like this. Note that the solar panels are brown and there are ESA and NASDA signs on the modules.

Which one are you seeing?

I just now downloaded the Addon on the Motherlode that's named "Stage 12". It contains a model named "iss_11A.3DS". As Daniel says, it has no signs on its modules.

It looks like this;

p.s. I just now downloaded the same model from Bob Hundley's site. It's identical to what's on the MotherLode. It also has neither signs nor flags.

Hey Selden,

If daniel is running a linux system and he downloaded iss complete, he still probally will not see any textures because I found that the model that came with iss complete has upper case letters for all the texture names and lower case letters for the texture names in the texture folder. The model works fine with the Windows version of Celestia but not the KDE version. With the KDE the textures are not loaded because of the name difference.

Daniel?
What system are you running now?

I'm reasonably sure it's Windows. I did confirm that there are no flag or sign images being drawn on 11a under Windows.

[edit]
Stepping through the console log, the sign and flag bmps aren't being requested, either.
[/edit]

Yes, the names are all messed up. :(
I wish people would remember the case issue.

When I copy the 11a model into the textures/medres folder (which contains all of the textures that are supposed to be needed) and load it into Anim8or, Anim8or complains that it can't find any of the texture image files. It seems that it expects the case to be right, too.

(I always try to make sure they're all lower case in my Addons.)

I worked around the case issue by renaming the files in the textures/medres folder with XnView's batch rename and changed the names to upper case. It took about 3 seconds.

I suppose that there are a couple new modules up there now. The shuttle isn't even back yet.

If you take a look at the ascii version of the model the texture list is loooooonnnngggg..... I found it was easier to rename the files in the tex folder. I try to use lower case myself. But sometimes I forget.

If I get time I'll rework the last one to the present config...unless anyone else would like to have a go? Just need to do some research into it's latest appearance.

following the Evolution sequence of "iss12.zip"

Thanks, Much appreiated and a great add-on to this sequence.

To follow the Evolution sequence of "iss12.zip": Evolution 12 (ISS 11A.ssc) it would be nice if the orientation was the same with this model. I loaded yours into anim8tor and was able to correct the orientation by changing the axis' so that the front view and top view matched the 11A model (and I thought that I had succeeded) but unfortunately I failed because anim8tor wouldn't allow me to load or save the textures. lol

I am a novice when it comes to anim8tor ;-)

Anim8or requires that the case of the names be correct. Since the model specifies upper case file names, Anim8or will not load the files that are named in lower case.

Hmmm. Interesting about the textures with Anim8or...a work around could be if you load the tex files into the same directory as your working model it may well 'hang on' to them. Worth a try. I've also had a few probs with Anim8or losing textures.

Anyways...in the meantime I'll work on the truss segments.
