MinorMoons
Of course they are only artistic renditions although I have tried to make them as accurate as I can.Where we know there is a crater I have tried to include this, when we get some better images and ideas of the shapes of these moons then they can be improved. Its entirely up to you if you want them in your Celestia and I dont imagine they will be in the normal Celestia, but they add a little colour and variation to the outer edges of the solar system.Daniel let me know where you get information on 'Larissa' and I'll try to correct it or any others for that matter.Jestr

How did I miss this thread...?
Grant,
Yeah- those models are mine- the full list is on http://homepage.eircom.net/~jackcelesti ... on_ast.htm . For whatever reason, I couldn't make them matte, only glossy in anim8or, so praesepe had to fix that with 3ds max.
Bob,
I really should put my name in my zip files... I'll put it on my to do list!

Ok, so 'you pays your money and you takes your choice', or as in the case of Celestia, 'you pay NO money and take your choice'!
Fair enough, if you don't like the textures it's worth making the point. But what do you think of all Jestr's different models? I think it's well worth downloading these for some variety over the standard asteroid cms model. You can always use the standard asteroid texture around them and they still look pretty good, or maybe even have a go at some of your own surface textures ?
A while ago I modified a few of the standard Celestia textures from some of the outer moons, such as Ariel, Callisto and Umbriel and the asteroid texture, by giving them a bit of a tweak with a basic picture editor and re-colouring them a sort of Eros-brown, or with greyish colours. I put these around quite a few solar system asteroids and minor moons that had the standard model and texture, to make them a bit more interesting.

I was thinking about that before... I didn't know if anyone else does that though...?
That's not really useful though- if someone wants to know who made a particular model, they'll probably head for the readme first, rather than looking for watermarks inside the mesh! That's what i'd be more concerned about really... (In the short-term, anyway)

I have made the textures, but when I export a model from '3DS Max' it limits the name of the textures to 8 (I think?) characters long so I renamed them to something like the original,-so Desdemona=desdemon, etc. As all of the moons you mentioned have more than 8 letters I assume this is whats causing the confusion.Cheers Jestr.
Here you are :
Look to this link http://ennui.celestiaproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=792.
It?s an old topic about a dark asteroid texture.
The strange is that Jim?s Proteus 0.5k texture are not dark.
Anyway,I don?t know the source of Troy

I meant to say that these textures could not be downloaded. Sorry for not being clear.
I tried getting callirrh.jpg instead of callirrhoe.jpg but still found no file.
