While working on an (as yet incomplete) Addon, I came up with one way to remove stars from a Nebula picture.

Very good for monochromatic nebulas :-D
I never thinked about filling gaps with a blurred layer ;-)
I'll try it on my ngc 7000 original image, to compare it with the released one.

Thanks a ton for this tip, I used your technique in Photoshop on B33 and it looks awesome! A more multicolored image like M1 required a bit more patience and hand tweaking to get the mask right but still looks great. In fact, I used it on all my addons with background stars. :D

You are all quite welcome. I'm glad the technique can be extended to more colorful images. I haven't quite gotten that far yet myself.
